DR. BEVERLY SMALLWOOD'S BIO
For twenty-plus years, psychologist
Dr. Bev Smallwood has accomplished her personal mission of
bringing out the best in people and her two-fold business
mission: 1) building “Magnetic Workplaces” ® that attract and
keep the best people and 2) helping individuals create
meaningful lives. She does this in several ways.
1. Providing high-involvement,
fun-filled, “how-to” programs and seminars on employee
motivation and retention, leadership, change, teamwork, and
personal development for enthusiastic audiences across the
globe;
2. Working with organizations to
systematically assess the assets and liabilities in the
workplace experience, providing the data needed to make good
decisions about where to invest resources;
3. Facilitating strategic planning
retreats in order to identify and tailor interventions that will
create a great place to work;
4. Conducting powerful team-building
retreats that inspire and equip even highly conflicted groups to
use constructive processes to accomplish impressive results;
5. Creating learning systems for
independent study and for after-program reinforcement;
6. Coaching executives to model the
behaviors needed throughout the organization;
7. Working with individuals, couples,
and families in her clinical practice to help them improve
relationships, rise above difficult circumstances, and become
their personal best.
Dr. Bev’s Credentials and Skills
All of these experiences along with
Bev’s professional training have given her a unique set of
insights and skills that she will use to enable your
organization to accomplish its goals.
··· Beverly received her Ph.D. in
Counseling Psychology in 1981. She has also received
post-doctoral training in such areas as professional speaking,
team and group dynamics, total quality management, customer
service and evaluation, creative training, organizational
change, personnel law, conflict resolution, social styles,
forensic evaluation procedures, and mediation. She is a Licensee
and Certified Facilitator for Og Mandino Success Training, and
she is certified as a SYMLOG consultant. Her advanced knowledge
of human behavior is a major plus when she’s working with
organizations on complex “people issues.”
··· Bev has worked with numerous
hospitals; long-term care facilities; managed care companies;
medical practices; Fortune 500 companies; manufacturing
companies; insurance companies; city, county, and state
governments; and professional associations. Internationally,
Beverly’s programs have impacted leaders in national
governments, corporations, and religious organizations. Her
clients have included such organizations as: Pratt & Whitney;
New York Life Insurance; General Dynamics; the Government of
South Africa; Computer Science Corporation; Beverly Enterprises;
Rush Health Systems; Arthur Andersen; Hibernia National Bank;
Insulin Infusion; Olin Chemical Corporation; Mid-South Utility
Company; Hercules, Inc.; Walbar; and Waterford III Nuclear Power
Plant. Her broad range of clients provides her with a keen
understanding of the real issues across industries. This enables
her to import and “cross-pollinate” ideas from other industries
as well as your own.
··· From her work in such countries as
South Africa, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia, Singapore, and
Indonesia, she has gained a deep appreciation for both the
differences of culture and the experiences that humans
everywhere have in common.
··· As a licensed psychologist for the
past twenty years, Beverly has counseled with literally
thousands of individuals, couples, and families in all the
struggles of life. These experiences give her a unique
understanding of how people think, feel, and behave. She brings
these insights to the platform, sharing with her audiences real,
practical strategies for successful living, rather than
pumped-up platitudes.
··· Before becoming a psychologist and
professional speaker, Bev was a teacher. She has also taught
university graduate students in business and psychology. As an
educator, she developed a keen sense of how to help others
quickly grasp and retain information, principles, and skills.
Her seminars fully honor the principles of adult learning.
··· Beverly’s own experiences as
C.E.O. of Leading Resources, Inc., which she founded in 1984,
and as a manager in other organizations greatly enhances her
ability to relate personally to the everyday realities of
leadership. Her extensive work with leaders in medical,
corporate, professional, and religious settings has rounded out
her personal experiences and her clinical training so that she
has a keen understanding of what works and what doesn’t in
helping people learn, grow, and contribute.
